Routine attention
- Daily
- Confirm the control equipment shows normal operation or that displayed faults are being handled.
- Weekly
- Operate a different manual call point and confirm the expected response.
- Periodic
- A competent person inspects and tests a proportion of the system at intervals no longer than the stated maximum.
- Across 12 months
- The programme should cover every device and the system as a whole.
Record tests, alarms, faults and work in the system logbook. Non-routine attention is also needed after a fire or when false-alarm performance is unacceptable.
